Sand aggressively with 220 grit paper.
Sand again with 360 or 400 (I'm a little limited in choice)
Sand again with 500 grit
Final sand with 1000 grit, almost to a luster.
Polish on bench grinder/polisher with the polishing stick. No pastes that cake up and fly all over.
Much better than what I did on the belt trim, not as messy, and much faster.
Add your thoughts as necessary.
