In the rare circumstance that I am not the only wierdo who would like to have an oil pressure gauge in the engine bay, here is how I installed mine: NOTE - This process goes a lot easier if the generator is removed first. Remove the electrical connector from the oil pressure switch on top of the oil filter housing. Remove the oil pressure switch from the oil filter housing. At this point, you have a decision to make. You can simply screw in the oil pressure gauge in the now empty oil pressure switch port, reinstall the generator, and you are done. Of course, doing so means you no longer have a working idiot light on the dashboard. Alternatively you may assemble the oil pressure gauge and oil pressure switch in a tee that sits atop an 8 inch 1/8"x 24 NPT nipple, and install this assembly in the oil pressure switch port. Reconnect the idiot light lead to the oil pressure switch (you may have to lengthen the wire to do so), reinstall the generator, and you are done. I recommend a 0-50 PSI gauge for this application. A 0-100 PSI gauge would be next to useless, as it would be very difficult to read accurately. Similarly, a 0-30 PSI gauge will most likely be pegged at all times the engine is running, and therefore be of little-to-no value.

Here is a thumbnail pic of the oil pressure gauge installation:

Just curious Dave, but why wouldn't you route the gauge to your cluster with the Hobbs and Volt meter?

Just curious Dave, but why wouldn't you route the gauge to your cluster with the Hobbs and Volt meter? Routing the gauge to the cluster was/is indeed an option. Quite frankly, I never even thought about doing so, at the time. Secondly, it would have taken a bit of plumbing to accomplish that. I have had the nylon/compression fitting lines break in the past, and do not trust them anymore. Bottom line is, I took the quick & dirty route!
